The Five Senses: Sight (2003)

Acrylic on canvas, 30.5x30.5cm

Private collection

The painting for sight depicts a woman looking through a stereo viewer at a three dimensional image that the we cannot see. This represents the sense of sight in a very straight forward way, though stresses the experiential nature of the sense of sight through showing a device that exploits the mechanism of binocular vision which gives us depth perception, thus locating the experiencing body within the world that it perceives as external to it.
